North Adams: LGBT advocate to lecture on equality in sports

The Leadership Academy at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will present a lecture by Pat Griffin, "What's Your Game Plan? Including Transgender Students in School Athletic Programs," at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, in the Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium at the MCLA Church Street Center.

This event is free and open to the public.

An advocate for LGBT equality in sports for more than 30 years, Griffin is a professor emerita in social justice education at University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where her research and writing interests include LGBT issues in education and athletics.

She is the founding director for "Changing the Game: The Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network Sports Project," and the former director of the Women's Sports Foundation's "It Takes A Team" project, an LGBT education project.
