North Adams: Literature Festival kicks off Saturday
The second annual Sally Goodrich Children’s Literature Festival will run Saturday, May 25, through Sunday, June 2.
Named after the North Adams Public Schools former Title 1 Director, the festival will host community- and school-based activities throughout the week.
StoryWalk, featuring the book, "I’m Gonna Like Me" by Jamie Lee Curtis and illustrated by Laura Cornell, will begin on Saturday, May 25, and run through Sunday, June 2.
Throughout the week, children and their families can read the story by following the pages displayed in storefront windows on Main Street. The first page of the story will begin at The Hub and the last page will be displayed at the North Adams Public Library.
On Saturday, June 1, the library will host a special activity during regular library hours.
Maps of the StoryWalk1 route will be sent home with children in Brayton, Greylock, and Sullivan elementary schools, and can be found at the North Adams Public Library and the LINCS Parent Center.
Additionally, all North Adams Public Schools’ students and families are invited to attend a Family Fun Night to be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, at Brayton School. The evening will be filled with activities focused on children’s book authors and illustrators, as well as children’s book trivia.
The Sally Goodrich Children’s Literature Festival is supported by a grant from the Gateway Fund of the Berkshire Taconic Foundation. Information: LINCS Parent Center, (413) 664-7512 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
