North Adams man held without bail in attack with glassware

NORTH ADAMS -- A city man remains jailed without bail on Monday after allegedly assaulting his partner with glass dinnerware during a dispute.

Francis Mossolani, Jr., 47, of Bracewell Avenue, allegedly threw glassware at the victim and physically assaulted her at their home on Saturday, according to police.

The woman was taken to Berkshire Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Officers responded to the home after receiving an anonymous call reporting the incident, but nobody answered the door, according to an affidavit written by North Adams Police Officer Nicholas Richards. Through a bedroom window, police spotted a pillow with a large pool of blood and forced their way in by kicking in a door.

Mossolani and the victim, who was bloodied, were found in the bathroom. Mossolani was Tased in the back and arrested, Richards said.

He told police that the victim sustained her injuries by falling.

Mossolani pleaded not guilty in Northern Berkshire District Court on Monday to charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

A dangerousness hearing will be held on May 2 to determine whether or not Mossolani can seek bail.
