North Adams: MCLA’s Gallery 51 to host opening reception
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ Gallery 51 will present "Exchange," an exhibition organized by the College’s advanced museum studies students, on Thursday, March 27, and which will feature artwork that may have been completed with the help of technology or that reflects a broad span of feelings connected to its use as an art or social tool.
This exhibit will kick off with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
"Exchange" aims to expose positive and/or negative feelings that arise from the use of digital technology. The class developed this theme after brainstorming the meaning of the word "Exchange’’ as it is relevant and prevalent in today’s social media/technology-laden society.
Exchange features seven artists from many different walks of life who reside in China, Canada, Arizona and across the Berkshires. These artists include Thomas Huston, Emmanuel Laflamme, Melanie Mowinski, Cynthia Naggar, Marianne Petit, Will Wilson and Alexandria Woolner.
"Exchange" will be on exhibit in MCLA Gallery 51, 51 Main St., through Sunday, April 20. The gallery is open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
