North Adams: MoCA to host fourth annual Teen Invitational art competition

The fourth annual Teen Invitational, featuring art by local high school art students, will be exhibited Friday through Sunday, April 11 to 13, in Mass MoCA’s main galleries.

The exhibit will open at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, with free admission. An awards ceremony and announcements will take place at 7:30 p.m., with a reception to follow at 8 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gallery admission is required.

In collaboration with northern Berkshire artists and high school art teachers, the Teen Invitational is an opportunity for Mass MoCA to showcase artwork created by students from six local high schools. Artwork is evaluated by a panel of Mass MoCA staff, area artists and teachers.

Cash prizes and tuition credits at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts are awarded to selected students with the highest-ranked work. New this year, students compete for cash awards that are made directly to their schools’ art departments.

Participating schools include Drury High School; BART Charter Public School in Adams; Hoosac Valley High School in Adams/Cheshire; and Buxton and Pine Cobble Schools and Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown.
