North Adams residents injured in Stamford crash

STAMFORD, VT. — Two North Adams residents were injured on Sunday when their car slid off the road and crashed into a tree.

Joelle M. Peterson, 34, was driving a 1999 Subaru Legacy on Main Road in Stamford when it slid on an icy patch of snow, according to Vermont State Police. Peterson was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and it veered off of the road and struck the tree.

Her passenger, Zachariah Chaffy, 36, suffered a broken hip in the crash, police said. Peterson escaped with minor abrasions.

Both were transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
