North Adams teen identified as victim in fatal crash
ADAMS — Investigators have identified the victim in Saturday's fatal two-car crash as Zackary Decker of North Adams.
Decker, 17, was a passenger in a 1999 Toyota Corolla traveling north on North Summer Street about 5:15 p.m. Saturday, when it apparently crossed the center line near Staples Street and struck a 2014 Mazda heading southbound, authorities said.
Decker was thrown from the vehicle and sustained severe neck and head injuries. He was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where he died as a result of those injuries, police said.
The drivers of both vehicles and a second passenger in the Toyota also were transported to BMC by Adams and North Adams ambulance services.
Authorities have not identified the others involved in the crash or released information about the extent of their injuries.
The Massachusetts State Police are assisting the Adams Police Department in determining the cause of the crash.
