Young writers participating in UNITY’s 2011-2012 Teen Writing Workshop will give a public reading at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at the Gallery 51 on Main Street.

Students will perform work that they have created during this year’s program, which met weekly from October to April.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be a reception with refreshments immediately following the reading.

The team of teen writers, ages 13 to 22, are co-led by Robin Lehleitner, a local writer and former English teacher, and Jake Snow, a TWW alum and award-winning slam poet. The diverse group includes students from Mount Greylock, Drury, BArT, McCann, home-schooled youth, and out-of-school youth.

Information: Kate Merrigan, UNITY program coordinator, at (413) 663-7588 or kmerrigan@nbccoalition.org.
