North Adams: Traditional Latin Mass to be celebrated

A traditional Roman rite High Mass will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, July 27 at the Parish of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 70 Marshall St. This will be the first time since the 1960s that the city has experienced such an event.

The Mass will be celebrated by visiting members of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, a world-wide Catholic society of priests and seminarians established in 1988 by Pope St. John Paul II.

The Mass will be supported by a pipe organ and a local Gregorian schola cantorum. A reception with light refreshments in the parish center will follow the Mass.

During the reception, the celebrant, the Rev. Daniel Heenan FSSP, will be giving first blessings, a special and ancient tradition, to those who wish to receive them.
