Nurses union to host forum tonight in bid to keep NARH open

NORTH ADAMS -- A community forum will be held tonight to discuss the impending closure of North Adams Regional Hospital, the Massachusetts Nurses Association has announced.

The forum will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at the North Adams American Legion.

The MNA is working to keep the hospital open before it closes on 10 a.m. on Friday.

"This can be done," said David Schildmeier, a MNA spokesperson. "This is not a forgone conclusion."

The nurses union is pressing state officials to intervene before the hospital closes its doors.

"The governor should be on a helicopter," Schildmeier said. "This is a disaster."
