NY man charged with carrying stolen gun in Pittsfield


PITTSFIELD-- Police arrested a Schenectady man on multiple gun charges early Saturday morning on Glenwood Avenue.

Anthony Robertson, 32, was charged by Pittsfield police with carrying a loaded .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson, which had been reported stolen out of New York.

State police received a call through 911 of a man with a gun outside a residence, and reported the incident to Pittsfield police. Pittsfield police went to the home and saw Robertson on a porch, Sgt. Mark Bushey said. After police asked him to put up his hands, Robertson allegedly only put up one hand. After a brief struggle to arrest him, police took the loaded gun out of Robertson's waistband, Bushey said. "He put up some resistance."

Robertson was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an identification card, defacing a firearm serial number, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and committing a firearm violation with a record of of two prior violent crimes.

Robertson is being held at Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction on $10,000 bail set by a magistrate. He is due to be arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court on Monday.
