N.Y. man held on gun charges
PITTSFIELD -- A New York man is being held on $10,000 bail after he allegedly was caught with a loaded .357 Magnum pistol with a filed off serial number.
Lameek Thomas, 23, of Queens, pleaded not guilty to four charges, including possession of an illegal firearm and possessing a handgun with a defaced serial number at his arraignment on Wednesday in Berkshire Superior Court.
According to a Pittsfield Police report, the handgun was found in a black bag in a stand of trees near Plinn Street.
Thomas was a passenger in a car police had pulled over. Thomas fled and ran through the area where the gun was found.
On Wednesday, Judge John A. Agostini ordered Thomas held on $10,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
Thomas and his attorney, Thomas J. Donohue Jr., are scheduled to be back in court on Oct. 3.
