Officer involved in Pittsfield crash identified
PITTSFIELD — City police have identified the on-duty officer involved in a two-car collision Thursday evening as Richard Saldo.
Lt. Gary Traversa said Saldo, a 28-year veteran of the department, was the sole occupant of the SUV police vehicle at the time of the crash, about 6:32 p.m.
Saldo was treated for moderate injuries at Berkshire Medical Center and released.
The driver of the other vehicle in the crash, a pickup, was 29-year-old Daniel Antoniazzi of Lee. He also was not seriously injured, Traversa said.
Antoniazzi declined medical treatment at the scene of the accident, according to police.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Fenn and First streets.
Police said Saldo was traveling eastbound on Fenn when his vehicle collided with the Ford F-150 driven by Antoniazzi.
The accident remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact Lt. Jeffrey Bradford at 413-448-9700 or at email@example.com.
