Officials: Townhouse fire kills 2 dogs, displaces residents


DANVERS, MASS. >> Officials say two dogs were killed in a fire at a townhouse complex in northeastern Massachusetts.

It was reported at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday in Danvers.

Officials say the residents of the Williams Street homes managed to escape uninjured, but two dogs were found dead inside a unit that was totaled.

The residents were not allowed to return to their homes due to smoke and water damage. Officials say they don't know when the townhouse will be reopened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
