Oldcastle Theatre Company: 'Doubt' opens Friday

BENNINGTON, Vt. -- John Patrick Shanley’s Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "Doubt: A Parable," begins performances Friday at Oldcastle Theatre Company, 331 Main St., where it is scheduled to run through June 22.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday evenings and at 2 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Oldcastle producing artistic director Eric Peterson is directing a cast headed by OTC veterans Christine Decker as Sister Aloysius and Tim Dugan as Father Flynn.

Also in the cast are Meredith Meurs and Nehassaiu deGannes.

The play centers around the dilemma that develops when a staunchly conservative Catholic school principal, Sister Aloysius, becomes suspicious of the relationship between a popular teacher in her school and its first, and only, African American student whom the teacher, Father Flynn, has taken under his wing.

Ticket information is available directly at the box office; by telephone at (802) 447-0564; or online at oldcastletheatre.org.
