The Cheshire Cemetery Commission has declared the Cheshire Cemetery closed for the winter effective immediately. Burials will resume around the middle of April 2013.

The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Visitors Museum at Western Gateway Heritage State Park will offer "The Emancipation Proclamation" at 3 p.m. on Saturday as part of its Civil War 150 Years Series.
This illustrated lecture commemorates the 150th anniversary of the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863, during the Civil War. The program will explore the full story about one of the most celebrated and controversial decisions ever made by a president.
