Patrick turns back on his neighbors
In regards to the tragic comedy of politicians and gun control, I will quote famous comedian, Groucho Marx, "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies."
In a Jan. 16 legislative filing, our Berkshire neighbor, Governor Deval Patrick, is attempting a slap in the face of Massachusetts law-abiding gun owners as treatment for gun safety and safer neighborhoods. Proving yet again that grandstanding politicians just can't differentiate between legal, responsible gun owners and criminals who have no respect whatsoever for life or law, the governor joins the ranks of rights restriction, reduction and criminalization of the innocent.
The legislation totally misses the obvious point of placing armed security in schools. Does he not realize that his wrongheaded policies will endanger potential victims of domestic violence and hate crimes by making it easier for criminals to prey on their victims? Do any of his supporters see he has sold them out?
By taking away the options and rights of the Bay State citizens for protection, recreation and collection, the governor has turned his back on his neighbors. On July 4 as he smilingly strides along the parade route turn your back as well. CLIFF HANSON
