Pedestrian hit by car; released from hospital

GREAT BARRINGTON -- Police say they are investigating a motor vehicle versus pedestrian accident that sent a 68-year-old town man to the hospital with minor injuries Friday.

The accident occurred at Silver Street and Maple Avenue at roughly 3:40 p.m.

Peter A. Hirber of Prospect Street was struck by a 1997 Ford Econoline. Barry Davidson, 58, of East Stahl Road in Ashley Falls was the driver.

Town police, fire and ambulance responded along with Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad. Hirber was transported to Fairview Hospital emergency room.

No details on Hirber’s injuries were provided by the hospital Saturday. Representatives said he’d been discharged by 7 p.m. Police said charges related to the accident have not yet been filed.
