Berkshires Week and the Shire of Vermont

In an interactive lecture with song, acclaimed folk singer Peggy Seeger will explore images and roles of women in traditional Anglo-American songs from the 1600s onward. At 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, 270 State Road in Great Barrington, she will sing and talk about folk music and its role in solidifying -- or changing -- the way we live. She will introduce traditional songs showing women as property, as victims, nags, scolds, schemers and traps. Then she will offer traditional and contemporary music honoring women as people of courage, stamina, tenderness, loyalty and inventiveness. Berkshirewomenwriters.org
