Pittsfield Adult Learning Center expands programs


Free evening classes, an Adult Career Pathways program and an updated Adult Diploma program are now available at the Pittsfield Adult Learning Center for anyone 16 or older in need of a high school diploma, career readiness skills, or learning English as a second language.

Registration is required for these and the other free adult literacy programs offered during the day and early evening at the Center, 141 North St.

The new evening classes from 4 to 6:30 p.m. include HiSET (formerly GED) exam preparation for intermediate to advanced students, and English as a Second Language (ESOL) for beginner and intermediate students.

An Adult Career Pathways program with both classroom and independent study, dual enrollment options, and career counseling begins Monday, Feb. 29. The program will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
