Pittsfield: Alchemy Initiative announces workshops


Alchemy Initiative has expanded its workshop offerings to include more topics, new instructors and locations across the greater Berkshires.

The first three workshops of 2014 have been announced:

n "Raised Garden Bed Building" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Climbing Tree Farm in New Lebanon, N.Y. The workshop will begin with a farm tour, led by farmers Schuyler and Colby Gail, followed by a hands-on workshop led by Nicole Conzo.

n "French Gluten-free Baking" from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Chez Nous Bistro in Lee. Attendees will work with pastry chef and Chez Nous co-owner, Rachel Portnoy, to make macarons, profiteroles and blondies.

n "Collaged and Painted Flowerpots" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at NUarts in Pittsfield. Led by artist Diane Firtell, workshop attendees will leave with their own 6-inch collaged and painted flowerpot.

No experience is required, but attendees must pre-register due to limited space. To register, email Alchemy.Initiative@gmail.com.
