Pittsfield: Alzheimer’s disease program scheduled

"Memory Matters, Practical Approaches in Caring," a full-day program for health professionals and the general public on the emerging health crisis of Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias, will be held Tuesday, May 13, at Berkshire Hills Country Club.

Jointly sponsored by Berkshire Area Health Education Center and Home Instead Senior Care, event co-sponsors include Epoch at Melbourne Place and Berkshire Clinical Research Associates.

The event will provide clinicians and community members with up-to-date information about these disease processes, which constitute a rapidly growing public health threat. Topics will include the memory evaluation process, diagnostic strategies, current pharmaceutical and behavioral interventions, determination of decision making ability, and the promise of recent research.

A family caregiver panel discussion will offer personal insights on living with these difficult diagnoses and the enormous needs of care partners.
