Pittsfield: Annual MindsMatter walk to benefit NAMI BC

Thursday May 9, 2013

The National Alliance on Mental Illness in Berkshire County (NAMI BC) will hold its annual MindsMatter walk on Thursday, May 16, during Pittsfield’s Third Thursday Downtown Street Festival.

Walkers can register and make a donation at the NAMI BC booth in front of Berkshire Bank, located at the corner of East and North Street beginning at 5 p.m. The walk begins at 5:45 p.m. with opening remarks from state Rep.. Tricia Farley-Bouvier. The walk is one mile.

The goals of the walk are to lessen the stigma of mental illness with a public education event and to raise funds for NAMI BC.

A special guest will provide free animal balloon creations for the kids and a NAMI tote bag will be given to the first 150 people to register for the walk.

Those interested in becoming a walker or a sponsor may contact Brenda at (413) 443-1666 or namibc@namibc.org.
