Pittsfield: Area art students receive fellowships

The Berkshire Art Association has chosen 13 Berkshire college art students to receive cash awards and exhibit in the 2013 BAA Fellowship Show at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, 28 Renne Ave.

The show will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. for the April 5 First Fridays Artswalk, and will close on April 27. Gallery hours are from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

The awards reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 13. At 6 p.m., the Berkshire Art Association will present $5,000 in cash awards to students representing five colleges. The public is invited.

Receiving $1,000 awards are Lanesborough resident Deena Bak, a senior at Williams College; Pittsfield native Dell Fontaine, a sophomore at Champlain College in Vermont; and Stephanie Owyang, a senior at Williams College from Ann Arbor, Mich.

Receiving $300 awards are Louise Smith, a native of Williamstown and a senior at Bard College; Williams senior Jocelyn Fifield of Westport, Conn.; and Williamstown native Ruby Jackson, a sophomore at Bard College.

Four Williams seniors receiving $200 awards are Nicolei Gupit from Los Angeles; Fenn Hoffman of Villanova, Pa.; Emma Teal Laukitis of Homer, Ark.; and NanNan Li from Salt Lake City, Utah.

Receiving $100 awards are Pittsfield native, Lauren Dewey, a sophomore fashion design student at the MASS College of Art; MCLA sophomore Vasilis P. Kostantinidis from Belmont; and MCLA student Marli LaGrone from Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
