Pittsfield: Athenaeum offers free genealogy workshops in January

The Berkshire Athenaeum will welcome back genealogist Alan Horbal in January for a four week workshop on finding ancestors using the 1900 through 1940 census, along with other immigration websites.

The classes are free of charge and open to the public. They will be offered on four consecutive Tuesdays, Jan. 7 through 28.

There is one class offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and one from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Due to the popularity of these workshops, participants should be sure that they commit to the full four weeks before registering.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop. The library will provide one for in-house use for those who don’t have one. Internet proficiency and an established email address are required.

The workshop is sponsored by the Athenaeum’s Local History Department and the Berkshire Family History Association.

The workshop is limited to 12 participants; early registration is encouraged. To register, call the Local History Department at (413) 499-9480, ext. 6.
