Pittsfield Babe Ruth 15s rally for 9-8 win over North Adams


NORTH ADAMS -- Alex Weber's two-run single in the top of the seventh inning capped a game-long rally and gave the Pittsfield Babe Ruth 15-year-olds a 9-8 win over North Adams in District 1 play at Alcombright Field on Monday night.

The visitors were trailing 7-0 after two innings when they began a rally, scoring five runs in the top of the third. Kevin Squires had a two-run double and Nate Stump an RBI single in the rally.

Trailing 7-6 going into the top of the seventh, Pittsfield plated three more scores. In addition to Weber's two-run single, the other run came around on a fielder's choice.

Chris Tracy picked up the win. Nick Altiere took the loss for North Adams. Altiere also had a pair of hits. Weber, Squires and Austin Houghtaling had two hits each for Pittsfield.

Saturday night

LENOX -- North Adams exploded for nine runs in the second inning to defeat Lenox 17-5 in the first game of the 15-year-old pool play on Saturday.

North Adams had 16 hits, led by Matt Koperniak's 4-for-5 night. That included two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Sonsini had a double for Southern Berkshire.

Pittsfield will host South Berkshire tonight at Deming Field at 5 p.m. in the third leg of pool play.
