Pittsfield: Beacon to host community lecture on prostate cancer

Friday September 14, 2012

Berkshire Health Systems will present a free community lecture and program on the controversy surrounding prostate cancer screening and treatment on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Beacon Cinema in downtown Pittsfield.

This free event will feature presentations by Berkshire Medical Center Urologists Dr. Stephen St. Clair and Dr. Jonah Marshall, who will discuss the national controversy over PSA screening and prostate cancer treatment versus ‘watchful waiting.’

Following the program, the physicians will answer questions from the audience. Refreshments and a drawing for free Beacon Cinema movie tickets will also be held as part of the event.

Following the presentation, the audience is invited to stay and watch the N.Y. Giants take on the Carolina Panthers in an NFL matchup shown live on the big screen.

The program is part of the Know Your Stats About Prostate Cancer campaign, sponsored by the American Urological Association Foundation and the National Football League.

Pre-registration for this event is required as seating is limited. To register, call (413) 447-2060 or email mstanger@bhs1.org, or register online through the BHS website, www.berkshirehealthsystems.org.
