Pittsfield: BeauSoleil concert to benefit Habitat for Humanity
The Grammy Award winning Zydeco band BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet will present a concert to benefit Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Crowne Plaza, 1 West St.
The benefit starts at 8 p.m., with the doors opening at 7 p.m. in the Main Ballroom. A VIP package that includes a meet and greet with the band begins at 6 p.m.
Musician Charles Neville will make a special guest appearance; Annie Guthrie will open the show.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing programs, including newly constructed homes at 47 Prospect St. and 83 Richmond Ave., the Building for Tomorrow program offering financial literacy classes, and numerous neighborhood revitalization projects, including the veteran’s home initiative.
Having won a 2009 Grammy Award, BeauSoleil was again nominated in 2010 for the group’s latest album, "Alligator Purse," their 11th nomination overall.
BeauSoleil has won Offbeat Magazine’s Best Cajun Award 14 times and is one of the most featured groups on NPR’s "Prairie Home Companion."
