Pittsfield: Berkshire Athenaeum offers genealogy classes

The Berkshire Athenaeum’s Local History Department and the Berkshire Family History Association are sponsoring free genealogy workshops at the Berkshire Athenaeum during January.

Genealogist Alan Horbal will lead a workshop using the 1900 through 1940 census along with other immigration websites. Classes are offered on four consecutive Tuesdays, Jan. 8 to 29, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Prerequisites include Internet proficiency and an established email address. Registration is limited to 12.

A Beginning Genealogy workshop will be offered on Thursdays, Jan. 10 and 17, from 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. Registration is limited to six. There are no prerequisites for this class.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop or the library will provide one for in-house use.
