Pittsfield: Berkshire Humane Society announces Coffee Hour Speaking Series

The Berkshire Humane Society will present the first event in its Coffee Hour Speaking Series, "Non-lethal Management of Suburban Wildlife Populations" with Dr. Allen T. Rutberg, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at BHS, 214 Barker Road.

Rutberg, director of the Center for Animals and Public Policy at the Tufts/Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, will discuss wildlife contraception: what it is; how and where it is used; and what are the successes and challenges around this form of non-lethal wildlife management.

Future programs include "Living with Coyotes" with John Maguranis of The Coyote Project on Feb. 7, and "Why Horse Slaughter Poses Serious Threats to Human Health and Food Safety" with Susan Wagner of Equine Advocates on March 13.

To save a seat and be eligible for the T-shirt raffle at the end of the presentation, call 413-447-7878, ext. 128, or visit BerkshireHumane.org/coffee-hour-registration/.

The CHSS is free to the public and supported by the Chervenak-Nunnalle Foundation Inc.
