Pittsfield: Ceremony to honor Vietnam veterans


A ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Vietnam War and the 30th year of the Vietnam monument will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Park Square.

The ceremony will honor the 27 Berkshire County residents who were killed in action in Vietnam, local Vietnam veterans and Vietnam era veterans.

The program is sponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 65, American Legion Post 68 and VFW Post 448.

Keynote speaker is Michael J. Walsh, director of Emergency Management. Mayor Linda Tyer will deliver opening remarks and John Harding will serve as master of ceremonies.

Numerous veterans organizations will participate. The public is invited.
