Pittsfield: Churches organize community-wide Blessing of the Palms
Four churches from four different denominations will mark Palm Sunday at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, April 13, with community-wide Blessing of the Palms in the parking lot at the intersection of Fenn and Pearl Streets, outside of First United Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend.
Clergy and participants from St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Zion Lutheran Church, First Church of Christ Congregational, and First United Methodist Church will gather together outdoors for the blessing, and then process to their respective churches for the remainder of their worship services for Palm Sunday.
In case of rain or other inclement weather, the outdoor event is canceled. Each church will instead host a Blessing of the Palms as part of its respective worship service.
All of the palms to used for the blessing are Eco-Palms, which were sustainably grown and harvested in Guatemala and Mexico.
