Pittsfield: City to welcome Irish delegation

Mayor Linda Tyer will welcome a delegation from Pittsfield's Sister City, Ballina of County Mayo, Ireland, with a public reception and ceremony at City Hall on Monday, March 14.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. in the City Council Chambers.

The group's visit to Pittsfield celebrates the partnership the two cities have formed through the Sister Cities International Program.

The delegation is set to arrive Friday, March 11.

Among the events planned during their stay, the guests and members of the Pittsfield Irish Sister City Committee and the Irish American Club will march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Albany, N.Y.; attend the Irish American Club's annual St. Patrick's Day dinner/dance at the Elks Club; and take in an Irish dance class at Terpsichore on North Street.
