Pittsfield: College Club offers grants to teachers

Monday September 10, 2012

The College Club will award a total of $2,000 in grants this fall to middle and high school teachers for innovative educational projects. Projects must be academic, on-site, and benefit students.

Successful ideas in the past have included videos to start a world literature class, equipment to study salamanders, and printing for a startup school newspaper.

Ideally, the materials and equipment will continue to be available to students in the future.

Applications forms have been sent to area high school principals. Teachers may also request forms from Awards Chair Gail Gernat, gag01201@yahoo.com.

Completed forms should be sent to Gail Gernat, 222 Holmes Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Oct. 31. Selections will be made and awardees notified in November.

Women with two or more years of college are eligible to join the College Club. Information: Membership Chair Nancy McGill at (413) 443-6942.
