Pittsfield: College night set for Taconic, PHS

Counselors from Taconic and Pittsfield High School will host a college planning night for high school juniors and their parents/guardians at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the Pittsfield High School auditorium.

The program will feature college representatives from Berkshire Community College, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Williams College.

Topics to be discussed include the application process, how the GPA and SAT scores impact college applications, and the importance of course selection for senior year.

Families will be advised on how to go about setting up college visits and what pertinent questions to ask admissions counselors. Early action, early decision, rolling admissions, regular decisions, and applying online will also be discussed.

At the end of the program, parents/guardians will be given an opportunity for a question and answer session with the presenters.
