Pittsfield: 'Cop on Top' event benefits Special Olympics

Posted

Law enforcement officers from the Pittsfield Police Department, Berkshire County Sheriff's Office and other local and state police agencies, will be taking part in "Cop on Top," a fundraiser for Special Olympics Massachusetts, on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4, at Walmart, Berkshire Crossing Plaza, 555 Hubbard Ave.

Local officers volunteer their free time and stand high atop Walmart until they reach their fundraising goal of $55,000. The event includes food, huge prize raffle and giveaway.

The event will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday with the Pittsfield Fire Department hoisting the first group of officers on the roof. Local Special Olympic athletes will light the ceremonial Special Olympic cauldron that will burn throughout the event.
