Pittsfield: Cornerstone Baptist Church celebrates anniversaries

Posted

Cornerstone Baptist Church’s 30th year of incorporation coincides with the 100th year of the groundbreaking of the historic building which it now owns at 1123 West St.

The church will host a celebration of the two anniversaries at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 29.

The event, which will be held in place of the regular worship service, is being called an "Ebenezer" or a "Stone of Remembrance" to indicate and reflect on the construction, preservation and provision of that building as an historic site and a house of worship over the century of its existence.

The celebration will include a proclamation read by Mayor Daniel Bianchi, a dramatic presentation, a video rendering of the history of the building, music, and an address given by Alton Beal, president of Ambassador Baptist College and an evangelistic speaker.

The church will provide a noon meal for all those in attendance. The meal will reflect, in part, the original meal provided at the building’s first dedication.

The community is invited to hear Beal speak at 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 30 to July 2. He will be giving messages of inspiration and encouragement.

Cornerstone Baptist Church is located at the corner of West and Churchill streets.
