Pittsfield defeats Taconic 4-1 in girls soccer

PITTSFIELD -- Carly Robinson had a goal and an assist and Allie Hunt made five saves in net as Pittsfield defeated Taconic 4-1 in a girls soccer game at BCC Field to improve to 8-1 on the year.

"It was a close game for a while," said Taconic coach John Flynn. "We actually played better in the second half than in the first, although we were outscored. It was a good match."

The Generals took a 1-0 lead at halftime on an unassisted goal by Robinson about 15 minutes into the game.

SHEFFIELD -- The Eagles scored a goal in each half for their second shutout win in two days.

"It was back-and-forth in the first half, and I think we were definitely tired after playing [Wednesday]," said Everett coach Jess Tomich. "But at halftime, we had a little chat about playing better and we picked it up in the second half."

CHESHIRE -- A Megan Rodowicz goal midway through the second half was the difference in this contest.

"A pretty even game between two closely-matched teams," said Hurricane coach Blair Mahar. "I think the difference was that we came out with more intensity in the second half than they did. We seem to be a second-half team these days."

Megan Richardson had seven saves for the shutout.

LEE -- Freshman Jackie Hathaway recorded a hat trick for the Millionaires in this win. Hathaway scored all her goals in the second half.

"In no way was the final score indicative of the way the game went," said Lee coach Lauren Finnegan. "We had just as many chances in the game: Corner kicks, free kicks, shots in the box. But their shots went in and ours didn’t. That’s soccer, but it was frustrating."

"We’ve been on the road for the past few matches, so it was good to get back home," said PHS coach Chris Polidoro.

Miss Hall’s 3, Westover 2

PITTSFIELD -- Nayna Okeke had seven aces, three blocks, three digs and nine kills to lead Miss Hall’s to a narrow 3-2 win. The scores were 27-25, 25-27, 25-18, 20-25 and 15-9.

Liana Brown had four aces, eight digs and 10 kills for the winners. now 2-2.
