Pittsfield: Dementia education series for caregivers

Springside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center will host "Caring for the Caregiver," a dementia education three part series, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 6 to 20. Springside is located at 255 Lebanon Ave.

Caregivers are welcome to join one or all three sessions being offered that will discuss the common concerns caregivers encounter when taking care of a loved one with memory loss.

Topics include "Effective Communication Strategies" on Sept. 6, "Understanding and Responding to Dementia-related Behavior" on Sept. 13, and "Health Living for Your Brain and Body" on Sept. 20.

This series, presented by Marcia McKenzie from the Alzheimer's Association, is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served and caregivers will be given a care package to take home.
