Posted
PITTSFIELD - Joseph Difilippo of Pittsfield, an Army, Korea Defense and Vietnam veteran, has earned recognition as the recipient of the VFW Post 448 Volunteer of the Year Award, according to Arnold Perras, commander, VFW Post 448.

The award is based on participation in numerous VFW Post 448 veteran activities.

These activities include involvement in nursing home visitations, military funerals, Honor Guard functions, Buddy Poppy drives, fundraising events, youth programs, committee involvements, various war anniversary events, memorial dedications, recruitments, parade marches, and other patriotic activities.

The program, created by Perras in 2012, was designed to create an incentive for more comrades to volunteer for various community activities and to be recognized for their efforts.

A plaque and gift certificates are given to the award recipient.
