Pittsfield: Film event to benefit Thunderbolt Ski Runners

Thursday November 8, 2012

The Thunderbolt Ski Runners, in partnership with the Beacon Cinema, will host Get Reel!, an afternoon of outdoor adventure films to benefit the Thunderbolt Ski Runners.

TSR is an organization based in Adams that hosts the annual Thunderbolt Ski Race on Mount Greylock.

Get Reel! will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Beacon Cinema on North Street. Admission is $10 and advanced ticket sales are available at Berkshire Outfitters in Adams; The Arcadian Shop in Lenox; and Ski Fanatics in Lanesborough. Admission includes a drawing for door prizes donated by local merchants.

The event will feature two documentary films: Stephen Grynberg’s award-winning film, "A Life Ascending," profiling the life of Ruedi Beglinger, acclaimed ski mountaineer and extreme mountain guide; and "Purple Mountain Majesty Redux," produced and directed by Blair Mahar, a Berkshire County resident and first president of the Thunderbolt Ski Runners. It chronicles the rich history of the Thunderbolt Ski Trail.
