Pittsfield: First Day Hike at Pittsfield State Forest

The Department of Conservation and Recreation is sponsoring a free guided First Day Hike at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 1, at the Pittsfield State Forest.

Hikers will meet at the Pittsfield State Forest Ski Lodge, 1041 Cascade St. All ages are welcome. Dogs must be on a 10 foot maximum leash.

Following the easy 45 minute hike on Tranquility or Hawthorn Trails, hot chocolate will be served by the fireplace in the rustic Ski Lodge.

Dress in warm layers and wear sturdy winter boots. If conditions permit, bring snowshoes and hiking poles.
