Pittsfield: Free safety check for child car seats

Posted

The Pittsfield Police Department, in conjunction with the Mass. Safe Kids Coalition, will conduct a Child Safety Seat Checkpoint from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, in the Berkshire Crossings parking lot off Hubbard Avenue.

Police officers, trained as child safety seat technicians, will be available to members of the public who wish to have their child safety seats inspected for proper sizing, fit and installation.

A select number of seats will be available for free distribution. It is recommended, though not necessary, that children for whom the seat is intended, and the seat owner's manual, be present.

The Dalton Police Department and Action Ambulance will also be assisting on Sunday.

Direct questions to Officer Michael Ortega at 413-448-9700, ext. 398, or miortega@pittsfieldpd.org.
