Pittsfield: Household hazardous waste collection set for Saturday
A household hazardous waste collection and mercury fever thermometer exchange is planned for Pittsfield residents from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.
Residents may bring the household hazardous products to the Public Works Highway Facility located at 232 West Housatonic St. Enter through the rear entrance at 81 Hawthorne Ave.
The collection is free to residents. Those bringing a mercury fever thermometer will receive one free non-mercury replacement. Package the glass thermometers so they do not break.
The Center for EcoTechnology is coordinating this collection on behalf of the City.
Businesses such as paint contractors, plumbers, and others that generate small quantities of hazardous waste may participate in this collection by paying a fee directly to Clean Harbors Inc., the hazardous materials collection company.
