Pittsfield: Jazz Vespers returns to Zion Lutheran


Jazz Vespers returns to Zion Lutheran Church, 74 First St., for its third season at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4

"Vespers" is the name of an evening service, which specifically includes prayers for the close of the day. Jazz Vespers at Zion incorporates modern elements of jazz, blues, and gospel into this historic tradition, from the song arrangements, to the harmonies, to the instrumentation.

The Jazz Vespers ensemble includes Andy Wrba, bass; Bill Chapman, drums; Marisa Massery, vocals; Katharine Wiencke, flute; with guest pianists and guests appearances by other local musicians.

There is never an admission fee or cover charge to attend Jazz Vespers.
