Pittsfield: Jewish Federation offers talk on UMass Holocaust institute


The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will sponsor a program detailing the work of the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with Director James Young and Assistant Director Lara Curtis.

The program will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Congregation Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road, and is open to the public at a cost of $3.

Young and Curtis will discuss the mission and functions of the Institute and the many opportunities it offers to both the academic and non-academic communities to reflect on the significance of the Holocaust and on the recurrence of genocide in human history.
