Pittsfield: Knesset Israel celebrates festival of Purim


Knesset Israel announces events celebrating the festival of Purim.

"Get Your Groove On," a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, will feature local musicians performing the music of Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Gladys Knight & The Pips, and more.

The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for ages 13-18, free for ages 12 and under. RSVP to KI Office at 413-445-4872, ext. 10.

A Purim carnival with dress up and games for young children will take place from 4:45 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, at Temple Anshe Anunim, 26 Broad St.

On Wednesday, March 23, a festive chanting from the scroll of the Book of Esther will involve members of both KI and Temple Anshe Anunim at 6:30 p.m.

In addition, the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires and KI team up to bake hamentashen pastries to be delivered to homebound Jewish elders in Berkshire County and Southern Vermont.
