Pittsfield: Lecture to address mental health stigma

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Professor Michael Birch, author of the book, "Mediating Mental Health," is next in Osher Lifelong Learning Institute's Distinguished Speakers Series.

His talk, "Situating Stigma: Mental Health in the News and Social Media," will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Berkshire Community College, 1350 West St., in K-111 lecture hall in the Koussevitsky Arts Center.

This lecture will track transformations in news media "mental health" representations against those recently promoted in social media via organizations like NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Admission is $10 for OLLI members and $15 for non-members, and tickets are available at the door or by calling 413-236-2190 to reserve. Admission is free to BCC staff and students and youth 17 and under.

Forum credit is available for BCC students.
