Pittsfield: Lifeguards off duty due to lack of availability

Lifeguard duties at Burbank Park have ended one week earlier than originally planned due to a lack of available lifeguards.

Lifeguards will be needed again for summer 2015. As there was a lack of lifeguards this year, the city is hopeful that trained lifeguards will be able to apply for the positions next year.

To receive a Lifeguard Certificate, including First Aid and CPR, people can check for class availability with the Berkshire County Chapter of the American Red Cross, (413) 442-1506; Pittsfield Family YMCA, (413) 499-7650; Pittsfield Boys & Girls Club, (413) 448-8258; or the Gladys Allen Brigham Center, (413) 442-5174.
