Pittsfield: Local women to receive suicide prevention award

The Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention announces that two local women, Sara Shuff and Kelly Heck, will be recipients of a Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention Leaders in Suicide Prevention Award at a ceremony to be held Monday, Feb. 10, at the State House in Boston.

Shuff and Heck are independent clinical social workers with Affirmative Counseling.

Their "Live Out Loud Youth Project" was one of six selected from across the state this year to receive an award. It is the first from Berkshire County to be presented a statewide award for their work in suicide prevention.

A representative from the office of Sen. Benjamin Downing will present the award.

The "Live Out Loud Youth Project" is a bi-monthly social-support group for youth who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Allied.
